Our reporters Leonie and Christian had the chance to dive with him about his career, hits, inspirations and more!
- Leonie: Hey Matt, nice to meet you and thanks for your time! So, as first question about your successful “Give It To Me” and “It Feels So Good” on Cr2. You gave some new house touch. How did you get the idea to do that and why did you choose these songs?
MATT SASSARI: Uh, yeah, I always been a fan of 2000 R& B and pop music. And I tried to mix both tech house and R&B to make my style. I did the job and two hits happened and I am happy to make it! - Leonie: Collaborating with other artists can lead to unexpected results. Who are some of the most exciting or surprising artists you’ve worked with?
MATT SASSARI: Uh, I would say Goodboys and Dillon Francis. Because at the end it’s totally different from my music. You can explore more, more sound or something different than usual. At the end it came something melodic techno and it’s not my style in the beginning, so something unexpected, really good, you know, you can explore.
- Leonie: What did you learn from those collaborations?
MATT SASSARI: You explore some VST I didn’t use before, you know. You go forward, you make music to reach another level, you know. You step out of your comfort zone!

- Leonie: Tech and innovation play a huge role in modern DJing. What’s one piece of technology or equipment you can’t live without while performing live and why?
MATT SASSARI: I’m a producer with Ableton, so with it I can do anything. But I produce and I play with it. And also I would say AI is the next generation, so you need to use everything, a little of everything to make your own stuff. - Leonie: Did you already use AI for that?
MATT SASSARI: Yeah, for sure, yeah. I have some tracks I did a cover with AI!
Leonie: Oh, and it worked good?
MATT SASSARI: Yeah, it worked like “Close Encounters”. One of my track I’m working on, I did it with AI! It’s good, it’s working good. - Leonie: Okay, looking ahead, are there any new projects or collaborations you’re working on that you’re particularly excited about?
MATT SASSARI: Yeah, I have a lot of things coming, but I can’t say yet, it’s secret, because maybe I will say something and it won’t happen, you know, so. But this is really big. If it comes, it will be really good. - Leonie: What direction do you see your music taking in the next years?
MATT SASSARI: next few years? Um, actually I have a new direction coming in two months. And it will be more like fast, you know? Faster, tech house, but more raw like muscle takeout, yeah! And with some trancy vibe and R&B vocals. So that’s my next direction.Leonie: Thank you so much!
MATT SASSARI: You’re welcome!
