His transcendent sound has become a global phenomenon, ascending charts and carving a niche that transcends the underground.

Our reporters Laurin and Kseniia met him and chatted about his path, projects and future!

  • ARGY: Italians, right?
Laurin: We’re here from Italian magazin but we are actually not from Italy, doing interviews and then video clips! Alright, so thank you so much for giving us your time today!
    ARGY: Let’s go!
  • Laurin: Yeah. So we prepared some question.. the first one is a bit more in the personal direction: when you’re not in the studio or on tour or playing somewhere else, what are your ways to just get your mind off, relax a bit, just disconnect and refreshing your mind?
ARGY: Uh, that’s one of my biggest problems that I can’t disconnect. Okay, when I have free time, I check everybody else’s work. I micromanage thing so I actually can’t do it!
Laurin: It’s part of your success probably!
  • Laurin: Next one is a bit about your career, because you played like a lot of festivals, shows, clubs all around the world.
Is there like a specific show, a specific set which marks special kind in your career where you say this one’s like one of the best or one that I really, really try to look back to?
ARGY: Well, I keep saying my Panorama Bar show when I was 19 years old, because it was very scary and it was quite iconic, as I went there with my two big vinyl cases and barely being able to, like, you know, lift them and carry them, and it was a pretty surreal moment and ,one of my most memorable slash scary.
Laurin: But once you’re out of that school, you’re never scared ever again. Then you’re just in there and you smashed it.
ARGY: It was good. It was like a six hour set. So it was that time were longer versions tracks and longer sets made sense. A lot of fun!
You used to play the songs for like eight minutes, now you play a song for like two minutes.. it’s like all this Instagram stuff and social media.

  • Laurin: People don’t have the patience anymore. Little side question, what do you think about it? Because for me personally, when I see this evolution of how the music is developing, I don’t really like it. I like, as you said, at least playing the songs for like three, four minutes at least.
ARGY: Yeah, fine, but I don’t have time for an eight minute song anymore.
Laurin: Yeah. And eight minutes is a bit hard.
ARGY: yeah, I mean, it depends, maybe there is a place in the set for a one minute song and it’s okay, but obviously not like a wedding set, you know, where it’s like every minute.
  • Laurin: yeah! So next one: congratulations on your new track “DURO” with TNY on your new label NEW WORLD after the 1st release “RITMO” with Omiki and Son Of Son, we really like it!
    ARGY: Thank you!
Laurin: Can you tell us a bit about the inspiration behind it or what inspired you and what’s the first thing when you start to create a new song? Is it just like an idea, an emotion, a sample?
ARGY: I think it’s always a sample. I have a thing with Spanish vocals. My first ever release in 2005 was my debut. It’s called “Love Doze”. It was also a Spanish vocalLaurin: Okay. So in this case, it was like the Spanish country that inspired you and we’re curious for the future of the label!
Let’s remember your website motto: “Farewell to the old, embrace the NEW WORLD”.

Laurin: And now a bit of a silly question. If you could create like your own festival, your own lineup full show and you could choose any artist dead or alive, whoever. Who would be like the top names on the lineup?
Would there be like a special DJ that got a special place in your heart?
ARGY: Um, it’s a tough one because these answers don’t really age well because then you look at this video 10 years from now and then I’m like, Hmm, was that really my thing?
So it’s very hard. Every era I have a different kind of thing, right? There are eras where you don’t listen to so many DJs, so you’re kind of like out of it and you’re just focusing on your own thing.

Laurin: Thank you so much. We like watched 2/3 of your show, because then we had to get down to get ready. Really liked the opening with his bit of more Arabic drums in the background. It was very nice!
    ARGY: Thank you man!
